About me
My name is Maximilian Kremer, and with this blog I want to promote good and very good leather shoes that can accompany you for a very long time. I’m interested in the best leather shoes and want to share the knowledge I’ve accumulated here.
How did my journey into the world of better leather shoes begin?
I only discovered truly resoleable leather shoes late, when I got tired of buying new shoes every one to two years. The concept of Goodyear-welted shoes and the better materials appealed to me right away. So I started with a pair of medium-brown derbies along with a matching belt, matching shoe cream, wax, a shoe brush, and shoe trees. I quite enjoyed wearing these shoes, and next I bought a pair of black double monks because the design really appealed to me. I hadn’t even known such closed buckle shoes before.
Over time, more purchases followed, and before I knew it, I was right in the middle of this shoe world that was new to me at the time. Back then, I also started expanding my knowledge through texts and videos on the internet and gaining my own experiences.
Where things stand today
I’ve seen how complicated and divided the shoe world can be. So I continue to place value on gaining my own experiences while I look at what’s out there. What appeals to me, I then test or adopt for myself. Someone who has influenced me a lot in this regard is Urban Buchmann. Thanks to him, I came across many Italian shoemakers who, in the old craft tradition—compared to today’s modern shoes—produce highly complex leather shoes. I also learned many other things from him.
In any case, these days I’m increasingly active on second-hand platforms when it comes to buying shoes. That suits me because it lets me experiment to the fullest. I also think this is an underrated source for truly like-new items. But when buying shoes, fit is a gamble, and over time I’ve increased my odds. Without these platforms, there’s no way my blog would have existed to this extent.
Looking into the future
I want to make resoleable leather shoes better known, because for me, the best shoes in the world can be found here. At the same time, I think this world of leather shoes isn’t the right fit for everyone. Because this world requires a change in mindset: you don’t treat shoes just any old way, but invest time and energy so that your shoes last as long as possible. I also want to contribute posts on that in the future.
